The Incomplete Cash Calculator

The didn't pay the whole thing

I’ve been programming since i was 10 years old. In Basic, qbasic, pascal, etc … then to javascript, java, php, c, etc. I have done a ton a useful and useless tools. But their use has been for me and myself only. Now for the first time I’m doing the very first public release of a useless tool: The Incomplete Cash Calculator.

This useless but great tool will help you deal with an awful hassle that some of us face at work. So here it goes.

Whether you work on the cash register or at the administrative office, sometimes you end up with a customer that thinks he’s very smooth and doesn’t need to pay the whole amount of the invoice. I.E. the invoice is for $231.78 and they pay $231. Commonly this happens when they pay cash, but it can certainly occur with checks. With credit cards there’s also a possibily of this happening, but then there’s only one person to blame. You!.

This also happens with more than a couple of cents. Let’s say you have no change and the invoice is for $144.21 and your guy has $145. He’s not going to just give you $5, definitely the $140 route has a better chance. Now end up owing the cashbox $4. Great! The solution of course is to fix the invoice amount before taxes to make the total amout $140.

This is the epicenter of this very original tool. Punch in what the customer gave you, throw in the taxes of the city you are in and you are done. Fix the order before taxes to the magic number in the ICC (Incomplete Cash Calculator) and you are golden. Forget that stupid customer. Forget trial and error. Forget the boss asking you what’s up with that. And more important than anything, nobody likes to put their own money on this (you are already getting overworked and underpaid) … forget hitting your pocket.

Here’s the link … use it at your own risk, and let me know if it is cool!
